       Vince Furnier

xavier

Pseudonym:
       Alice Cooper

Vince Furnier (1948), the American pop performer, chose this (female) name (in 1969) to illustrate his theory that ‘people are both male and female biologically’ and to draw attention to his group, the Nazz (originally Earwigs, then Spiders). He claimed the name Alice Cooper suggested a blond folk singer – which he certainly wasn’t.
